The request from our client was to remove the water-intensive grass and reduce their grass cutting and irrigation costs.
Working with botanist Sheri Lubin, our design and planting plan reintroduced drought-tolerant native plant species. Knowing the local bee populations was struggling, we also selected plants that attract bees and other pollinators.
Today, the former lawn is a field of native plants that include California Poppy, Black Sage, Blue Wild Rye, Common Yarrow, and Purple Needlegrass.
