the COLLABORATIVE

The one-acre William Kennedy Park along the south banks of the Spicket River in Lawrence, MA, provides much need open-space to one of the city's denser residential neighborhoods.

Staff at the Collaborative, while with a previous firm affiliation, guided the project from master planning through construction, designing a space that was open, accessible, and flexible in the face of seasonal flooding.

The site, organized around a centuries-old willow tree, features a playground, fields, a lighted pedestrian path, and the first sections of the future Spicket River Greenway.
