The Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) was a demonstration program by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) designed to explore ways in which transit can contribute to the quality of life of urban communities.

Planners Collaborative provided technical guidance for the FTA to a number of local LCI grant recipients. Planners Collaborative utilized a broad range of multidisciplinary skills, including transit system planning, urban planning, community development, public participation, public information, and marketing.
