the COLLABORATIVE

The landscape design for the outer, more public portion of the proposed Islamic Institute of Boston extends a generous and welcoming invitation to the greater community to come and learn about Islam. Symbols in the paving pattern represent the universality and inclusiveness of Islam.

The design for the inner garden serves as a metaphor for paradise, with the beauty of the more intimate courtyard appealing to all the human senses. An eternally flowing fountain stands at the heart of the courtyard, surrounded by plants selected to provide a variety of color, texture, and scents.
